Dear Reader,
Don't mind me while I slip back in around here as if I was never away. I've spent the last couple weeks wrapping up a writing project. From first sitting down to work on the project to sending in the first complete drafts, Daniel got to hear all about my insecurities with my writing. And he handles it so well.
Ever since we've been together, Daniel has referred several times (to others) about when I publish my best seller. I laugh, because it's obviously a joke. Really, beyond this blog and a couple freelance projects, I haven't put myself into regular writing, and I'm virtually unknown among agents, publishers and query letters that lead to a traditionally published book.
Yet, my loving and supportive husband doesn't say it to be funny--he really believes in me. He loves me and encourages me to develop the gifts and to pursue the interests I've been given. Even when it distracts me from housekeeping or when I feel clueless and unqualified. He's there with loving words of encouragement.
1 Corinthians 12:31 says to "Earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way." A way more excellent than lonely gifts pursued without purpose. A way more excellent than insecurities and doubts and fears.
That more excellent way? Love. As defined in 1 Corinthians 13. Love as God is love. Perfect love that casts out all fear.
The best gift we're given. To pursue our purpose, and use our gifts with love. To serve God in love. To love each other, as He first loved us.
And that's just what Daniel and I will be celebrating the end of this month on our 6th wedding anniversary. Not that we know anything about marriage or have it all figured out. But that our love is founded in God, and that's all that really matters.
And if anyone thinks that he knows anything,May all that we do this season, be done in love.
he knows nothing yet as he ought to know.
But if anyone loves God,
this one is known by Him. | 1 Cor. 8:2-3
Happy July!
