Our kitchen has a decent-sized open space that I would love to make more useful with a kitchen island. Something basic to add extra counter space and with an open shelf to hold recycling containers. Nothing too bulky or complicated. These photos prove kitchen islands work well in small spaces too.
Small Space Kitchen Islands

Table as Island
A small counter-height table in the middle of the kitchen would be a handy way to add seating and expand easy-access counter space. I'd take this whole kitchen as-is.{butcher block kitchen island} |
Butcher Block Island
This rugged butcher block island is a perfect addition to an otherwise refined kitchen. A good minimalist staple.{kitchen island} |
Island as Decoration
A towel bar with a set of cute hand towels and a few potted flowers when not in use makes this kitchen island a pretty addition when not in use.{kitchen island} |
Fun Way to Add Color
